2007 saw the completion of our village’s cemetery chapel, which—on the occasion of the Saint Elizabeth Year—was dedicated to the patronage of Saint Elizabeth of the Árpád dynasty. The 11‑million‑forint investment was initiated by the Municipality with the help of several supporters. Péter Simon contributed 6 million forints, while the Church provided sacred objects and furnishings. Many of the faithful also supported the construction; for example, they collected the full cost of the bell. The designer was István Szalay, and the contractor was Zoltán Domonkos. During construction, great care was taken to ensure that the building’s materials and proportions harmonized with its surroundings and did not appear ostentatious. The inauguration took place on August 18, 2007, and Archbishop Dr. Gyula Márfi consecrated the new chapel. The cemetery chapel is where we bid farewell to our deceased loved ones; it serves as the location for funeral masses and farewells. Apart from these occasions, Mass is held here only on All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
On November 1, 2011, thanks to Dr. Zoltán Virágh and his family, a statue of Saint Elizabeth was placed in front of the chapel’s façade.
